Teledyne Introduces the HVGPR Pirani Vacuum Gauge for Compact, Cost-Effective System Integration

IES is pleased to highlight a new product release from our partner, Teledyne Hastings Instruments: the HVGPR Pirani Vacuum Gauge. Designed with OEMs and system integrators in mind, the HVG(PR) delivers reliable Pirani performance in a compact, competitively priced package optimized for modern vacuum systems.

Proven Pirani Technology with Integrated Electronics

The HVGPR is a thermal-based Pirani vacuum gauge with integrated electronics, using the same proven Pirani sensor found in the HVG-2020B. This precision-welded hot-wire sensor design has been in high-volume production since 2019, providing a strong track record of performance and reliability.

The gauge measures from atmosphere down to medium vacuum, with high accuracy from 100 Torr to 1 mTorr and an overall measurement range of 1 × 10⁻⁴ to 1,000 Torr. This makes the HVGPR well suited for applications that require dependable pressure measurement across a wide operating range.

Designed for OEMs and System Integration

A key focus of the HVGPR design is ease of integration. The gauge is available with KF-16 flange or 1/8” MNPT process connections, both of which are compact, low-cost options commonly used in OEM equipment designs.

All power, analog output, and digital communications are handled through a single RJ45 connector, simplifying wiring and installation. RJ45 hardware is widely available and easy to service, making the HVGPR an attractive option for high-volume systems.

The compact form factor is optimized for small enclosures, and unlike many vacuum gauges, the HVGPR maintains accurate measurements in any installation orientation, offering additional flexibility in tight system layouts.

Flexible Outputs and Digital Communication

The HVGPR supports traditional logarithmic analog outputs, with two selectable options:

  • 1 V/decade logarithmic output (2–9 VDC)
  • 1.286 V/decade logarithmic output (1.16–10.162 VDC)

These output curves allow users to measure seven decades of vacuum with clear, distinguishable resolution.

In addition to analog output, RS485 serial communication is always available. Through RS485, users can query pressure, change analog output configuration, select gas types, and adjust other settings as needed for system control and automation.

Simple Setup and Operation

The HVGPR is designed to be easy to install and operate. Features include push-button zero and atmospheric adjustment, minimal setup requirements, and straightforward operation for both development and production environments.

Applications

The HVGPR is well suited for a wide range of industries and applications, including:

  • OEM equipment
  • Analytical instrumentation
  • Semiconductor processing
  • Foreline monitoring
  • Thin-film coating
  • Vacuum furnaces and heat-treat systems
  • Freeze drying
  • HVAC and refrigeration
  • Oil reprocessing
