Clamps & Fasteners
The ISO flange system provides a variety of fasteners. Small ISO-QF flanges (QF10-QF50) have six (6) styles of quick clamps: wing nut, ratchet, chain, CNC aluminum (T-nut), CNC aluminum toggle, and CNC stainless steel (hex nut). Large ISO-QF flanges (QF63-QF500) use band clamps for sealing. ISO-LF flanges are fastened with single or double claw clamps. ISO-LFB flanges are fastened with bolts. In addition, there a several special purpose flanges. Bulkhead clamps are used to to fasten ISO-QF style flanges directly to chamber walls, bulkheads, baseplates, collars, or valves. Rotatable bolt rings and retaining rings are used to convert ISO-LF (claw clamp) style flanges to ISO-LFB (bolted) style flanges. Adaptive bolt rings are used to convert ISO-QF style flanges to either ISO-LF or ISO-LFB style flanges.
Crosses are manufactured with a flange on each end of an “X” shaped section of tubing. Crosses are available in 3 basic configurations: 4-Way, 5-Way, and 6-Way. The flanges on plain crosses are all from the same family. Reducer crosses change sizes within the same family of flanges. Hybrid Adapter crosses intermix flange families. A&N manufactures standard crosses in 304L stainless steel, 316L stainless, and aluminum. Other materials and flange configurations are available on request.
Fittings, Elbows & Returns
Elbow fittings are manufactured with a flange on each end of curved section of tubing. A&N’s ISO elbows are offered in 5 designs: 45° radius elbow, 90° radius elbow, 90° mitered elbow, 90° long radius (or tangent) elbow and 180° radius return to accommodate a wide variety of system configurations. A&N manufactures standard elbows in 304L stainless steel, 316L stainless steel, and aluminum. Other materials are available on request.
Nipples are manufactured with a flange from the same family on each end of a tube section. (Fittings that are manufactured with different flange families on each end are called hybrid adapters.) Straight nipples are manufactured with the same size flange on each end of straight section of tubing. Reducer nipples have different size flanges (from the same family) on each end. In addition, reducer nipples are manufactured with straight and conical tube sections. Conical tube sections provide higher conductance. Flexible nipples have tube sections constructed from convoluted (formed metal bellows) tubing. Half nipples are terminated with a tube cuff end on one end for vacuum users with in-house welding capabilities. Nipple fittings are available in all ISO sizes. A&N manufactures standard nipples in 304L stainless steel. Other materials are available on request.
Tees are manufactured with a flange on each end of “T” shaped section of tubing. The flanges on straight tees are all from the same family. Reducer tees change sizes within the same family of flanges. Hybrid Adapter tees intermix flange families. A&N manufactures standard tees in 304L stainless steel, 316L stainless steel, and aluminum. Other materials are available on request.
The ANCORP Quick Flange, or QF, ISO series is sexless, infinitely rotatable, and is sealed with a Quick Clamp. ISO-QF is available for 0.5″ (QF10) to 2.0″ (QF50) tubing. The Large Flange, or LF, ISO series is also sexless and infinitely rotatable. However, unlike QF flanges, LF flanges are sealed with a bolt kit or claw clamps. ISO-LF is available for 2.5″ (LF63) to 20″ (QF500) tubing. These flanges are manufactured to ISO specifications to ensure 100% compatibility with other ISO manufacturer’s flanges. A&N manufactures ISO flanges in four different materials: 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel, 6061 aluminum, and brass.
Stub weld flanges are designed for butt welds whereas socket weld flanges are designed with a tube counterbore for internal welds. Weld ring flanges are similar to socket weld flanges but with a thinner cross-sectional profile. Blank flanges have no through bore.
Hardware & Seals
Centering ring assemblies are the heart of an ISO flange’s sealing mechanism. Each centering ring assembly is constructed from 2 pieces: 1) a metallic alignment ring and 2) an elastomeric o-ring. Alignment rings are manufactured from 4 materials: 304L stainless steel, 316L stainless steel, aluminum, and brass. O-rings are produced from 3 elastomers: Viton®, Buna-N, or silicone. Centering ring assemblies with a (72 mesh) screen are designed for those applications where particulates may be generated. Adaptive centering ring assemblies are used to convert rarely used ISO-QF flange sizes (10, 20, 32) to more commonly used flange sizes (16, 25, 40). Over pressure rings are an optional item used to prevent an ISO-QF o-ring from becoming unseated or “blown out” in vacuum systems experiencing intermittent positive pressures.
